Weekly Thought Bonanza Sept 18/19

On Sunday, I produce a column called “The Weekly Thought Bonanza”. The column is based on all of the random thoughts that run through my head all week, and trust me there are a plethora of them. I will try to share as many of these thoughts as I can, so each one of my readers can think just a little bit extra over the weekend.

Don Imus, is moving to the Fox Business Network in the next few weeks after being fired by MSNBC over comments directed towards the Rutgers Female Basketball Team. Imus will always be Imus, grouchy with a plenty of common sense when it comes to the issues of today. While he might have lost his fastball, he still has some pretty interesting guests and his comedy bits are priceless.

John Edwards, a former Vice Presidential and Presidential Candidate, has finally admitted he fathered a child with a member of his staff. Imagine the drama if he had won. How would the liberal press handle this one?

Mary Travers of Peter, Paul, and Mary passed away this week at the age of 72. Their most popular song “Puff the Magic Dragon”, was supposedly about marijuana and smoking out of a bong. Peter, Paul, and Mary, were a champion of liberal causes for over 30 years. Mary died of Leukemia after a long battle with the disease. You might not have liked her politics but you have to respect her passion and integrity.

The President of the United States, Barack Hussein Obama, called Kanye West a “jackass”, this week before he went on ABC’s Nightline. The President’s staff is upset because the comment was supposed to be off the record. Nothing the President does should ever be off the record. If you say something you better mean it as you are the President, Mr. Obama. Stand up for what you believe in and you will do fine. You will not hear many argue with you about Kanye.

The Ernie Davis Story, is one powerful movie that everyone should see, whether you’re a sports enthusiast or not.

Parents send their children to college to receive an education and to grow into a productive adult. Several acts of violence have occurred far too frequently on campus in the last five years. The one place your children should be safe is in school. No matter the cost, we need to lock these campuses down and start taking security on campus more seriously. Some colleges have populations that rival small cities and just like a city, there must be protections in place for its occupants.

Who is leading the charge to tax soda and calling it a way to fight obesity? When are we as a nation going to stand up and tell our leaders that we can decide what is good or bad in our lives a lot better than they can. In the same realm of government insanity, our government is now putting in a policy where you cannot resell children’s toys at garage sales if they were recalled. When does the insanity end?

Advice to Jennifer Anniston; you are over exposed, keep your love life out of the news, and get over Brad Pitt.

The head of the FCC plans to propose new rules that would prohibit Internet service providers from interfering with the free flow of information and certain applications over their networks, an official at the agency said Saturday. What this means is Comcast and other internet providers like it will not be able to control the flow of traffic over its network any longer. It is about time.

In the rumors that have no merit section this week. Rumor has it that if you swallow your gum it will take seven years to digest. This is totally false as gum does not stay in your intestine for seven years. The second rumor to show no merit is that if you pull a hair out two will grow back. Trust me folks, if your hairline is receding do not try to pull out a few to get more to grow back. If you suffer from male pattern baldness, you need all of the hair you can keep.

I received my new New York Yankees Bank of America Visa today. What a pretty card it is.

Gavin Mcleod, the Captain from the Love Boat and a Born Again Christian, has written an stared in a new faith based film. "The film is about forgiveness," Macleod says. "Forgiveness is one of the greatest tools God has given us." Well done Captain.

The 1.3 billion dollar Cowboy Stadium opens tomorrow with the Cowboys of Dallas taking on the Giants of New York via New Jersey. Who says that money does not buy you everything?

Try Google’s web browser. You will not be disappointed.

U2 will perform at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts, Sunday and Monday this week. This is not your dad’s U2 anymore. Bono will go on and sing brilliantly as usual, but he will also talk about world affairs throughout the concert. Hey Bono, when you are charging hundreds of dollars for tickets stop complaining about the poor of Africa. Just a thought.

The Big Dig, Boston’s huge infrastructure project, contractor Powers Fasteners Inc. yesterday agreed to plead guilty and pay a $100,000 fine to settle a federal charge of making a false statement to the government in a case tied to a deadly tunnel ceiling collapse. You have to be kidding if the feds only levied a 100k fine.

The Verizon Fios television commercials are extremely clever.

Airplane shoe bomber Richard C. Reid no longer faces severe limits on his prison activities or communications after the Obama administration quietly ended years of hard-nosed curbs against the British-born al-Qaeda terrorist. This summer the Justice Department halted six years of measures that kept Reid from associating or praying with fellow jailed Muslim terrorists, and limited his access to the news media and pen pals. Just let him keep spreading the hate that is in him.

The “Weekly Thought Bonanza” thought of the week. A professional eater, Humble Bob Shoudt ate 33 and a half burritos in the 2009 World Burrito eating championship. I cannot eat 2 burritos at a time, never mind 33 and a half. I should bought more stock in Pepto Bismol.
